Boyds Gunstock Industries,
producer of wood and wood laminated gun stocks in sporter and target/varmint
configurations, now offers replacement stocks for a wide variety of historically
significant military arms. Fully shaped, inletted and finished renderings of the original
M-1 Garand and M1-A stocks are now available in traditional walnut or in a choice of brown
(nutmeg) or black (pepper) wood laminate.
These military stocks are not traced
but rather CNC machine-inlet to precise tolerances for a much closer wood-to-metal fit
than the originals. The walnut models are stained and treated with an oil-type finish to
bring out the natural grain. The laminates are finished in a tough, chemical-resistant
urethane formula developed exclusively for Boyds. Both models are also offered unfinished, which require no fitting, but a
final sanding is recommended before applying finish.
Additionally, M-1 Carbine stocks are
offered in walnut only in a choice of finished or unfinished. Also, semi-inlet stocks in
walnut are available for the 1917
Enfield, 6.5 and 7.7 Arisakas, small and large
ring Mausers and the 1903 Springfield.
