7mm & .300 Short Action Ultra
Mag
Building on the phenomenal success
of the Remington Ultra Mag family of rifles and cartridges, Remington has announced the
development of two new short action ultra magnum cartridges - the .300 Remington SA (Short
Action) Ultra Mag and 7mm Remington SA (Short Action) Ultra Mag. The velocities and
energies previously only found in a long-action platform are now available in the
easy-carrying, fast-handling Model Seven.
Introduced in 1983, the lightweight
Model Seven has long been a favorite in the field for its compact length and precision
balance when hunting dense cover. Known for delivering unprecedented accuracy and
dependability, the Model Seven now offers Ultra Mag performance in a true short-action
rifle.
Initial offerings of both calibers
will include two production rifles, the Model Seven LS Magnum and the Model Seven SS
Magnum as well as a Custom Shop version, the Model Seven AWR. All three models feature a
three-round magazine with hinged floorplate and are drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
Twist rates are one turn in 9 1/4 inches for the 7mm Rem SA Ultra Mag and one turn in 10
inches for the .300 Rem SA Ultra Mag. All rifles will be equipped with 22-inch barrels and
swivel studs.
The Model Seven LS (Laminated Stock)
Magnum has a polished, blue carbon steel receiver and magnum contour barrel that comes
equipped with rifle sights. The addition of a precision balanced, brown laminated stock
makes this Model Seven both durable and handsome. It should be on dealers shelves by
the spring of 2002 at a suggested retail of $673.
With a weather-resistant synthetic
stock and 416 stainless steel barreled action, the Model Seven SS (Stainless Synthetic)
Magnum is a compact, lightweight rifle ideal for all hunting conditions. This model also
features a clean magnum contour barrel and will be available in the fall of 2001 at a
suggested retail of $719.
Based on the highly popular Model 700 Alaskan
Wilderness Rifle, both the 7mm Rem SA Ultra Mag and .300 Rem SA Ultra Mag will be
available in the new Model Seven AWR. Weighing in at 6 1/8 pounds, this Model Seven
features a 416 satin stainless steel, Teflon-coated barreled action with magnum contour.
The clean barrel has a non-reflective, matte black finish. Reinforced with aramid fibers,
the matte black fiberglass composite stock completes this Custom Shop offering.
Availability will be summer 2001 at a suggested retail of $1,257.
