Wolfe Publishing Announces Rebrand of Rifle Magazine to Rifle & Handgun Magazine

Wolfe Publishing Announces Rebrand of Rifle Magazine (est. 1969) to Rifle & Handgun Magazine

Prescott, Arizona – [Today’s Date] – Wolfe Publishing Company, a trusted leader in the firearms publishing industry, is proud to announce the rebranding of its long-standing Rifle Magazine to Rifle & Handgun Magazine. The change will officially take effect with the January/February 2026 issue, No. 344.

For over five decades, Rifle Magazine has been a cornerstone of semi-technical, accurate, and engaging firearms journalism. This rebrand reflects Wolfe Publishing’s commitment to both honoring that legacy and expanding editorial horizons. With the recent shifts in the firearms media landscape and the growing need for authoritative coverage of handguns, Rifle & Handgun will broaden its scope to provide in-depth coverage across both rifle and handgun platforms.

“Since 1969, Rifle has set the standard for thoughtful, accurate firearms content,” said Jeremiah Polacek, Editor in Chief at Wolfe Publishing. “Our readers know us for detailed, technical writing that’s still approachable and engaging. Expanding into handguns ensures we remain relevant, comprehensive, and forward-looking. This is not only an opportunity to grow, but also to serve the industry and our audience more fully.”

    What’s New?

    • Name Change: Rifle Sporting Firearms Journal will now be known simply as Rifle & Handgun Magazine.
    • Editorial Balance: Each issue will feature three rifle-focused features and columns alongside three handgun-focused features and columns.
    • Expanded Opportunities: The rebrand opens space for new contributors and fresh perspectives, with Wolfe Publishing actively seeking column-length submissions centered on handguns.

    What’s Not Changing?

    • Wolfe Publishing’s dedication to quality, accuracy, and passion for the shooting sports continues as strong as ever.

    A Family-Owned Advantage

As a family-owned company, Wolfe Publishing is uniquely positioned to adapt quickly to changing industry needs. While the rebrand may feel sudden, it is the result of months of careful planning and strategic foresight. The transition allows Wolfe Publishing to remain ahead of the curve while honoring its legacy of excellence in firearms journalism.

“This is more than just a name change—it’s an expansion of our vision,” Polacek added. “By bringing rifles and handguns together under one masthead, we aim to create the go-to resource for sportsmen, hunters, shooters, and firearm enthusiasts who expect more than surface-level coverage.”
